My cavies have a small routine so they know when they are going to be fed and things.
Weekdays:
Every morning I go down to the shed check water and top up dry feed.
in the afternoon I am not at home as I have school, so i make sure they have lots of mix, hay and water before I go.
Then when I come in about 5 pm (I’m out seeing to the pony) I go straight down to the shed I then top up water, fresh hay, more mix and LOTS of VEG. All my sows go onto the shed floor at VEG time so they can have a play and a munch, I then give them all a cuddle and a snuggle and may even take a few more pics!
Weekends:
On Saturday morning i go down to the shed and give them water and top up dry mix. I then leave them for a few hours while i see to the pony. When i come back they go into there runs for an hour or so and all get cuddles. During the day they get a large tub of grass each. Then at night they get there VEG and maybe another run around in the shed and definitely another snuggle!
Every day:
All my cavies get a health check every day; this includes checking there bodies, having a good look at them and seeing if any thing is wrong. They also get a good groom weather there self or long haired.
Every month:
Every month my cavies all get there nails clipped, and teeth brushed (NO toothpaste of course)
IF and needed:
I bath my cavies according to what colour they are, what the weather is like, if i have a show, if they are dirty.
Cleaning out:
I usually clean out every Saturday, but it really depends on how many cavies are in a pen/hutch, And how dirty and messy they are.
